The Boy and The Heron wins Oscar in Best Animation Film Category - Anime Manga Addicts

The legendary Hayao Miyazaki has cemented his animation legacy even further, with his latest film, "The Boy and the Heron" winning the coveted Oscar for Best Animated Feature at Sunday night's ceremony. This marks Miyazaki's second Academy Award, solidifying his status as a titan of the animation world. 

"The Boy and the Heron" a poignant tale about a young boy grappling with grief who finds solace in an unlikely friendship with a heron, captivated audiences and critics alike. Praised for its breathtaking visuals, imbued with Miyazaki's signature whimsical style, and its emotionally resonant narrative, the film resonated deeply. 

"This is a triumph for hand-drawn animation" remarked veteran animation critic Beatrice LeMay. "In a world increasingly dominated by CGI, 'The Boy and the Heron' reminds us of the power of artistry and emotional connection that traditional animation can achieve." 

Miyazaki, now 83, is also the oldest director to win in this category. While accepting the award on behalf of the film (Miyazaki himself is known to be somewhat camera-shy), producer Toshio Suzuki expressed his gratitude:
