:Baki Faces a New Threat: Legendary Samurai Rises in Baki-dou Anime!
The official website of the anime series announced on Sunday that Keisuke Itagaki's Baki-dou manga is getting the anime treatment. The animation will be produced by TMS Entertainment, the same studio behind the popular Netflix series "Baki the Grappler."
Baki-dou is the sequel to the long-running martial arts manga "," which TMS Entertainment adapted into two anime seasons for Netflix. The first season premiered in September 2021, and the second season followed in July 2023.
The New Story:
Baki-dou picks up after the events of Hanma Baki, with Baki Hanma, the "World's Strongest Boy" feeling restless after defeating his father, the monstrous Yuujirou Hanma. Bored by the weakness of his challengers, Baki finds himself yearning for a worthy opponent.
Suddenly, Japan throws a curveball. Scientists successfully clone the legendary samurai Musashi Miyamoto, a legendary swordsman from the past. Miyamoto, eager to test his skills against the strongest fighters of the modern era, arrives in Tokyo ready for a challenge. However, his adherence to ancient ideals of honor and death duels clashes with the more peaceful present.
Baki, however, welcomes the challenge. The thrill of facing a powerful new rival reignites his fighting spirit. The story promises an epic clash between the resurrected samurai and the bored champion, with Baki's friends likely getting caught in the crossfire.
A Franchise on the Rise
The franchise has been steadily gaining popularity in recent years, thanks in part to the Netflix adaptations. The upcoming anime adaptation of Baki-dou will likely further expand the fanbase. With its high-octane action, larger-than-life characters, and exploration of martial arts philosophy, Baki-dou promises to be a thrilling addition to the Baki universe.
Fans can also look forward to a crossover movie between the franchises, scheduled for release on Netflix on June 6th, 2024.
